Now then….Dips are one of the easiest things to make providing you have all the spices and simple ingredients to hand.I have also found that you can experiment on your Family Friends and Guests by putting a few down and just waiting for the ….. “Ooh…That’s nice whats in that ?” ….or “Blimey that’s hot !” Its great because you usually always get some sort of reaction when you throw a weird one in the mix…However I will just start with the 3 Favourites that i use.

Mint Yoghurt…

This is usually served to people known as Raita however traditional Raita is a savoury yogurt side dish including various vegetables and different ingredients such as gram flour droplets etc.


  • Natural Yogurt
  • Fresh Mint or Mint Sauce
  • Cucumber


As you would expect just place the natural Yogurt in a bowl,Cut up the cucumber into small pieces and stir this in .Then place the mint sauce in to the consistency you require . Garnish with the fresh mint.

If you cannot buy the Mint sauce pre made then simply use a bunch of fresh mint , 1 Teaspoon Sugar(ideally caster Sugar) ,Pinch of Salt.and equal amounts of tablespoons of white wine vinegar and water 4 should do it.

Orange Chilli Chutney


  • 2 Table Spoons of Thick Cut or Chunky Orange Marmalade
  • Teaspoon Chilli Flakes
  • Pinch of Salt
  • Pinch of Ground Cumin
  • 2 Garlic Cloves Peeled and Finely Chopped
  • (Optional but great for freshness)A few fresh coriander leaves or stems finely chopped


Simply mix all of the ingredients together and place in a small ramekin or Relish Dish.

Chilli Yoghurt

Chilli yoghurt is basically just that ……It adds a real creamy kick if you have some starters such as Onion Bhajees or Pakora’s .


  • Natural Yoghurt 125 grammes or just 1 small pot
  • 2 x Fresh Red Chillies finely Chopped or 1 Teaspoon of dried Chilli Flakes
  • Sprinkle of Garam Masala
  • Pinch of Turmeric

Simply mix all the ingredients together and Enjoy.
